Occupational Therapy

At KNC, our Occupational Therapy services are committed to empowering individuals to achieve their highest level of independence and well-being. Occupational Therapists (OTs) are skilled Allied Health Professionals whose goal is to enable people to engage in the activities that are most important to them. For older Australians, this often means supporting them to continue living independently at home for as long as they wish.

The process begins with a comprehensive assessment, usually conducted in the individual’s home, to understand how they manage their daily tasks. During this assessment, our OTs ask questions about which activities are easy and which are challenging. This information helps us identify barriers to independence and determine the most effective ways to address them.

Once the assessment is complete, our OTs work closely with the individual to develop personalised solutions. These may include recommending assistive equipment, such as shower chairs, dressing aids, or tools to simplify kitchen tasks. We may also suggest home modifications like installing rails in the bathroom or on stairs, or adding ramps to improve home accessibility.

In addition to these practical solutions, education is a key component of our services. Our OTs provide guidance on strategies to prevent falls, enhance safety, and improve overall well-being, helping individuals feel confident and secure in their daily routines.
